Brauton Beer

I sat down with Peter Kreyci from Brauton for a coffee last week to find out a little more about what is behind the famous local "Music Beer" and when I asked Peter how one gets into the idea of making beer his answer was simple, well it all started by drinking... I was sold.

I sat down with Peter Kreyci from Brauton for a coffee last week to find out a little more about what is behind the famous local "Music Beer", when I asked Peter how one gets into the idea of making beer his answer was simple, well it all started by drinking... I was sold.

Peter and his partner Phill Zezula, both musicians, went on a big American tour in 2013 and took it upon themselves to try as many different IPAS and Pale Ales as possible. As craft beer was still an almost non-existent concept in Austria, once they were back, they got to experimenting and producing their beer, in their shared kitchen, mind you. Straight away they won two prizes as hobby brewers at the Austrian Beer Challenge and the rest is history...

When asked what differentiates Brauton from other beers, Peter tells me that it is the Music, in order to combine music and brewing, their both passions, the Brauton guys always develop their beers with a specific album or song in mind. Such as "Back from Space" the Steaming Satellites inspired beer, that is as fruity and upbeat as the same named song, and they don't stop there, they also play music to the beer during the brewing process, in Vinyl of course.

Their latest IPA is inspired by RadioFabrik and the super stylish package makes it very clear: Our beer listens to RadioFabrik as well as the rest of Salzburg for the past 25 years. Self-made, surprising, and in no way mainstream. And still easy to drink. More than just a beer.

Well, We like Beer and Music, so safe to say we love Brauton over here!
