30. Bergfilmfestival 2024
The filmfestival “Adventure Mountain – Adventure Film” debuted at DAS KINO in 1994, driven by the passion of festival founder Michael Bilic and co-founder Thomas Neuhold's hope for lasting fond memories. Over the past 30 years, the Salzburg Mountain Film Festival has welcomed a quarter of a million visitors, showcasing around 1,200 films along with 350 lectures and discussions.
While outdoor sports and the festival itself have evolved over the past three decades, the unwavering enthusiasm for the mountains and the love of film and related art forms remain. The festival intertwines art and science with alpinism, providing surprising insights and welcoming not only top climbers but also artists from music, literature, photography, and cabare.

The anniversary program celebrates the festival's spirit with five talks exploring various aspects of mountaineering. The film programs (P1 to P4) showcase stunning summits, including thrilling expeditions, challenging alpine climbs, and solo winter ascents.
Additionally, the mountain culture program (P5 to P9) broadens our understanding of alpine life, featuring diverse voices from artists, shepherds, hunters, writers, tourism experts, and glacier researchers.
For the first time, the LOCAL HEROES AWARD will be given for the best film from Salzburg, featuring a €3,000 production budget for filmmakers under 30, sponsored by Martini Sportswear. The winning team will also receive a sculpture by Tennengau artist Jakob Dobaiz, displayed during the festival.
You can help decide the winner! The program runs over seven different dates, and the total votes will determine the winning film, announced at the awards ceremony. Be sure to cast your votes!
One thing has stayed the same for the past 30 years: The BFF brings together mountaineers of all ages, there are No red carpets and no VIP sections, the meeting place for everyone is the mountain bar on the first floor. And that’s how Martin Hasenöhr intends to keep it.
