Antiquariat Weinek
So off I go to Gallery Weinek, and the moment I step in, I'm hooked. Andrew is sitting at the bar with his laptop, playing great music. I order a cappuccino, browse through their very cool selection of items, and ask Andrew if he’s up for a chat. Turns out, we have a lovely conversation.
Andrew, originally from the U.K., tells me that the gallery has been an antique bookstore and art gallery since 1987 and has been in this building since 1993. The shop originally belonged to Viola’s parents (Viola is Andrew’s fiancée) until the two of them took it over in 2020. They noticed that people are sometimes hesitant to enter an antique bookstore, thinking that older items might be highly valuable and out of reach. So, their goal was to create a more welcoming, accessible place. And they’ve definitely succeeded—here, you can enjoy coffee and delicious vegan cakes, try a monthly rotating selection of natural wines, and browse unique gifts like custom leather diaries and rare books. All of this is surrounded by books carrying centuries of history and stories. The atmosphere is as cool as it gets.
Gallery Weinek also hosts events, with monthly gallery groove sessions, live music, and an Alpine Fools special.
Whether you’re craving a nice coffee, a new favorite book, or simply a cozy spot to spend an afternoon, Gallery Weinek has it all.
